Time away 'to get ready for the rest of the year' huge for Parenteau
DALLAS, TX – World No. 2 Catherine Parenteau won't be competing in Utah this week as she continues her break from competition, which began following the Fanatics Sportsbook North Carolina Cup.
The Canadian star plans to return to the PPA Tour for the Vizzy Atlanta Slam in mid-May.
So what has Parenteau been up to in recent weeks?
“We traveled to Hawaii for vacation for a week,” she shared. “I actually took 20 days off pickleball and fitness to help me recover before getting into more intense training on and off the court to get ready for the rest of the year.”
It’s difficult to imagine Parenteau taking a break from her vigorous training program, of course, but she previously spoke about stepping away from time to time to avoid burnout and physical and mental strain as well.
And with her trip to the Aloha State now in the rearview mirror, it's business as usual again for the decorated pickleballer.
“After my 10 days off, I’ve been back on the court and in the gym training. Since I don’t have any tournaments coming up, it’s the perfect time for me to train hard since I have plenty of time to recover physically before my next tournament,” said Parenteau.
Come the Atlanta event, expect a well-rested Parenteau to pick up right where she left off.
No doubt the fans will be thrilled to see her compete.
“I've been drilling a lot and pushing hard in the gym to finish the year strong,” she concluded.
